Turkish Airlines announces codeshare agreement with Thai Airways
Turkish Airlines and Thai Airways have signed a codeshare agreement, meaning each airline has access to all seats on the aircraft and can sell them on its own terms.
The new agreement was signed at IATA’s Annual General Meeting last month in Delhi, India.
The objective of this agreement: to facilitate travel for their customers beyond Istanbul and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airports.
Thus, Turkish Airlines will be able to offer its customers codeshare flights on the Istanbul-Bangkok route, as well as to connecting destinations served by the Thai airline.
At the same time, Thai Airways will offer its customers flights from Bangkok to destinations served by Turkish Airlines to Istanbul and beyond.
On these routes, customers with a single ticket for their entire journey will benefit from a single fare, the companies stated.
“This agreement will allow Air India to expand its destination network to the Indian Ocean and Africa. Air India already has codeshare partnerships with 14 other prestigious airlines around the world, and Air Austral will be Air India’s 15th airline partner,” said Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines.
For his part, Chai Eamsiri, Chairman and CEO of Thai Airlines, commented on the signing of this agreement: “It demonstrates our commitment to cooperation to further strengthen our offering and thus offer our passengers a wide choice of destinations in Turkey.”
