Are you about to travel with your baby or with your child and need to travel by plane with Freebird more or less long? Know that the Turkish company has thought of everything to support parents in this situation. Whether it’s luggage, meals or even little extras on board, find out what Freebird Airlines offers for traveling with your baby or child by plane:

Seat reservation and baggage allowance offered to the baby/child

If you can travel very quickly with a newborn, it is recommended to wait until the baby is at least three weeks old to take a long-haul flight. Before the age of two, a child can travel seated on their parents’ lap, but they must have their own seat once they are two years old.

Freebird Airlines offers families traveling with an infant the option of adding an extra bag in their hand luggage free of charge, as well as a free 10 kg item in the hold.

Carrying a buggy or stroller for your child on board

Families with babies and/or children can also carry child seats and folding strollers free of charge in the hold only.

Take liquid baby food in hand luggage

While it is forbidden to bring liquids over 100ml and certain foods into the cabin, these restrictions do not apply to liquids and baby food. It is indeed possible to take baby bottles and jars on board, as well as non-prescription baby medicines. We advise you in particular to provide a bottle of sugar water or fruit juice to help baby withstand the pressure during take-off and landing.

Be aware, however, that security officers may ask you to taste the food during the check, which is why it is better to favor resealable containers. Also avoid small glass jars, which can break. On board, do not hesitate to ask the cabin crew for suitable water for the preparation of the bottle, or to warm up the said bottle.

Care products for babies and children are not affected by these exceptions. You will therefore have to opt for liquid products of 100ml maximum, placed in a transparent plastic bag of 20 cm x 20 cm.

There are baby-friendly meals on many flights, but it’s best to contact your airline before departure to be sure. Special meals must be ordered at least 72 hours before departure.

What is the minimum age for a child traveling on a Freebird Airlines flight?

The Turkish company accepts children aged 2 to 12 on board its flights provided they are accompanied by an adult.

Traveling alone as a minor, and without accompaniment

Children between the ages of 5 and 12 can travel alone using the Freebird Airlines Minor Passenger Service, while between the ages of 12 and 17 it is possible to either choose the UM service or travel alone, provided to have an authorization signed by a parent.

Freebird requires that this minor escort service be reserved when booking tickets, as the number of unaccompanied children is limited on board. It is best to call customer service to book this service, and this must be done in advance (48 hours or more before the flight).

Please note that this service is not free. It is charged at 50€ per passenger.
