Turkish Airlines: Beijing and other destinations strengthened in China this year
Turkish Airlines will once again fly between Istanbul and Beijing. While the Turkish national carrier previously announced its intention to permanently withdraw from the skies of the Chinese capital, it has now announced its return to Beijing Airport (PEK). Starting March 29, Turkish Airlines’ network will include ten weekly flights between Istanbul and Beijing operated with a Boeing 777 and a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
According to a Turkish Airlines spokesperson: “Contrary to the decline in traffic previously recorded due to the Covid pandemic, demand on the Istanbul-Beijing route has seen strong growth in recent months.”
“For several months, our flight to Beijing has been very successful. The Chinese hub offers a wide range of travel options and destinations, and the new schedule combining day and night flights will allow our passengers to benefit from a wider choice of connecting flights in both directions.” he added.
On this route, Turkish Airlines will be in direct competition with China Eastern Airlines, which operates three flights per week between the two airports.
In the same vein, the Star Alliance member airline announced it has increased the number of its flights to two other destinations in mainland China. Guangzhou and Shanghai Pudong will both benefit from ten weekly flights (instead of seven) from May 11, 2026.
