After a decade, Turkish Airlines announces its return to Libya
In a historic turning point for regional air relations, Turkish Airlines celebrated its dramatic return to Libyan airspace after a ten-year hiatus. Last Thursday, a flight from the company landed at Mitiga airport in Tripoli, marking a new era of renewed connections between Turkey and Libya.
The announcement was made by Hakomitna, the official platform of the Libyan Interim Government of National Unity (GNU), highlighting the importance of this redeployment for both countries. The resumption of flights is not only commercial news but the fruit of the determination and coordination of experts in the Libyan air sector, who have meticulously prepared the ground to meet all technical requirements.
Bilal Ekşi, the general director of Turkish Airlines, spoke enthusiastically at the inauguration of the route, saying that the Turkish airline will operate three weekly rotations.
