Corendon Airlines suspends Gatwick – Antalya flight in 2027
Turkish airline Corendon Airlines has announced the suspension of its route between London Gatwick Airport and Antalya from next year, as part of a review of its British network. This decision is part of what the company describes as a disciplined approach to its capacity management, after a year marked by soaring fuel prices, geopolitical tensions linked to the conflict in Iran and the fall in demand recorded on this route.
Currently, the Gatwick-Antalya route is operated several times per week.
Matthew Carpenter, Corendon Airlines director for the UK, explained that the move was in direct response to a difficult trading year: “In response to a difficult trading year due to the impact of the conflict in Iran, we have therefore decided to reduce the number of UK airports we serve. » He also said that the company was terminating certain aircraft leases, leading to an overall reduction in its fleet, with a direct impact on the UK flight schedule.
According to Carpenter, however, this measure remains temporary: a reassessment of the situation is planned for January, with the hope of reintroducing flights to Birmingham, Newcastle and Gatwick as soon as oil prices stabilize and market conditions improve.
Following this reduction, Corendon will continue to operate from just three UK airports in 2027: twice a week from Glasgow, and three times a week from Manchester and London-Stansted.
