Turkish Airlines relaunches Istanbul-Mombasa flight

Turkish Airlines has resumed flights to Mombasa, Kenya. After a five-year hiatus caused by the spread of COVID-19, the route has returned to the Turkish national carrier’s schedule.

Since October 27, Turkish Airlines has been operating three weekly flights on this route, using 737 Max 8 aircraft.

At Mombasa Airport, Turkish Airlines flights are operated from Istanbul Airport.

“This resumption demonstrates the recovery in demand from Turkish and Kenyan passengers and complements Turkish Airlines’ long-haul offering,” said Subutay Yuksel, the Turkish Ambassador to Kenya.

The Star Alliance member explained in a statement that it had reassessed the efficiency of its network and is now offering a better schedule on its route by increasing the frequency of its flights to Mombasa Airport.

Mombasa is the fourth East African destination to join the Turkish Airlines network, after Nairobi in Kenya, Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
