Pegasus Airlines opens new maintenance center
Pegasus Airlines has opened a new MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) center at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, its main hub.
The project cost the Turkish airline $40 million.
This maintenance center, built on an 18,000 m² site, includes three hangars: one dedicated to painting Pegasus aircraft and two maintenance hangars with a capacity of five single-aisle aircraft for engine overhauls and repairs, as well as other aircraft components.
Another hangar is scheduled to open by the end of this year, complementing the existing facilities and allowing for an additional five aircraft, bringing the total number of single-aisle aircraft that can be accommodated simultaneously to ten.
As a reminder, Pegasus Airlines operates a fleet consisting mainly of single-cabin aircraft, including 115 A320 and A320neo type aircraft and 9 Boeing 737-800s.
