Turkish Airlines places firm order for 100 Boeing aircraft
Turkish Airlines has announced the conclusion of a deal with Boeing that had been in the works for a year. The manufacturer and the airline announced an order for up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, wrapping up discussions initiated last year.
Turkish Airlines has confirmed a firm order for 100 Boeing 737-8s and holds options for an additional 50 aircraft.
The contract also includes rights to switch to the 737-10, the largest version of the MAX. This will allow Turkish to convert part of the order into higher-capacity aircraft for its busiest routes. Deliveries are expected between 2033 and 2037—a distant timeframe due to the manufacturers’ full order books.
This order complements the one placed last year. It is part of a broader deal announced last year covering up to 225 Boeing aircraft, including up to 75 Dreamliners.
Premium Economy returning in 2028
At the same time, Turkish is shifting its long-haul strategy. Board member Murat Şeker confirmed to Skift that the airline plans to introduce a premium economy class on its Airbus A350s starting in early 2028.
